Register Now: Implementing PAPRs into Operating Theatres during COVID | 5 June 2022

Euroanaesthesia 2022 – 4-6 June 2022, Milan, Italy

Developing a single user protocol for a powered respirator

Speaker: Dr Robert Wengritzky (AU)

Date: Sunday 5 June 2022

Time: 2:00pm-2:20pm (CEST)

The pandemic has exposed the vulnerability of relying on low-tech masks, including high infection rates and staff shortages. It serves as a reminder that healthcare systems must adjust to managing ongoing airborne risks, and regularly review their preparedness plans with a focus on worker protection.

Join Dr Robert Wengritzky, Specialist Anaesthetist at Frankston Hospital, Australia, as he discusses how he implemented high-protection PAPRS into a clinical setting, within 3 weeks.

With rising staff infections alongside general case numbers increasing, implementing PAPRs into high-risk COVID-19 operating theatres required careful consideration of infection control procedures.

Register to attend virtually or in-person and hear Dr Wengritzky discuss:

  • The logistical considerations and disinfection procedures the hospital undertook prior to implementing the fleet
  • How, in collaboration with CleanSpace, close to 200 staff have been formally trained and credentialed for CleanSpace HALO use
  • The benefits they saw in using CleanSpace HALO with non-COVID-19 cases; allowing all members of the surgical and anaesthetic team to practice and feel confident using their devices.

The vast majority of the staff now prefer to wear a CleanSpace HALO unit rather than a N95 mask in the COVID theatre.
