Estimated Protection

CleanSpace SMART App provides an Estimated Protection level via the Dashboard page.

There are three reported levels of protection – Excellent, Good and Fair. When the Power Unit is in Standby Mode the estimated protection will not be displayed and a dash will appear.

How It Works

CleanSpace has developed an algorithm that combines:

  • Respirator performance data (motor power, mask pressure etc) and
  • Wearer data (respirator size and adjustment, heavy breathing, talking, mask seal changes, etc) which provides a list of different outputs.

The outputs were compared with CNC fit test readings. This gives CleanSpace respirators an Estimated Protection for each output.

The Estimated Protection is not the same as a Fit Factor, which is the result of counting particles inside the mask vs particles outside the mask.

Estimated protection results on the SMART App

Every minute, respirator performance data and wearer data is collected. The data is compared with the algorithm outputs and the resulting Estimated Protection level is displayed in the App for that minute This process is repeated each minute.

Excellent

The Estimated Protection is above 2000. Excellent respirator performance combined with wearer scenario.

Good

The Estimated Protection is 1001 – 2000. Good or excellent respirator performance combined with good or excellent wearer scenario.

Fair

The Estimated Protection level is less than 1000.
CleanSpace recommends that the wearer check their equipment and adjust as required.

Note: FAIR is significantly higher Estimated Protection than expected from a corresponding CNC Fit Test.

IMPORTANT: The SMART App Estimated Protection does not replace any requirement for fit testing.
